FINAL #4 Flux

Click HERE to see my 3D Flux!
I added a jpg picture of myself to the head of my 3D character. I found Flux very difficult to work with. Inserting the shapes, adding color and textures, and figuring out how to make it 3D.... Special Thanks to Lily for giving up her Sunday morning and working through this together and for all the laughs!!!!!

FINAL # 1 SNAPSHOTS!

I followed the instructions in the Class 8 notes. Visited http:Web3DChat.com and clicked on Second Life image. Clicked on the left "join" button and created my account and chose my avatar (I was not asked if I wanted to join a community). I retrieved the final instructions from by email, installed the software, and I was good to go. I walked around quite a bit to get use to the arrow keys. At various locations I selected the "Snapshot" button at the bottom of the page and saved to my hard drive. Here are my results.

Immersive Education
Here are my thoughts on Immersive Education.
Immersive Education provides educators and students with a unique and powerful learning tool. Communications is key in Immersive Education. “In-person” communications and communications through “technology” must go hand-in-hand. If this learning platform is to be successful educators will not only need to monitor student involvement; but more importantly follow up and discuss students’ experiences and results.
Although the potential and benefits of this type of learning are enormous, I do have a few concerns:
1) This type of education should be available to all students. (School systems and learning institutions with small budgets may not be able to afford the equipment necessary to support this type of learning)
2) Teacher instruction, monitoring, and follow-up will be vital to the success of Immersive Education.
3) Could this on-line technology make students susceptible to predators and computer systems to viruses?
As mentioned in the essay, there are currently six Immersive Education classes offered at Boston College. In my opinion, Immersive Education will become more popular and widely used.

Mid Term 10 - Microsoft Word House
http://www2.bc.edu/~aldent/mt351/dcg.html
along with a thumbnail of my Screen Shot.
Mid Term 9 - Microsoft Word Shapes and Effects

Here is the screen shot of my word document. First, I opened MS word and used the "auto shapes" tool to insert the shape. For each shape I selected "Format auto shape", selected the colors, "Fill Effects: Gradiant, Texture, Pattern, or Picture. Typed in text. Hit the CTRL and Print Screen keyes. Opened Paint and pasted screen shot. Saved as a Bitmap graphic. I then saved the word document and uploaded to my website,
along with a thumbnail of my Screen Shot.

Mid Term 5B - Interlaced PNG
Mid Term 5A - Monster Jpeg

Opened picture in GimpShop and selected the paint brush, chose the calligraphic brush pint and the color blue. I then wrote my name and did a "save as", selected Jpeg as the file type, turned on the preview mode, selected qaulity @ 100, checked advanced options-checked the progressive box, typed my name in the comment box and saved.
Mid Term 7 - Famous Person

I had quiet a bit of trouble with this. Part of the problem was that I had a lot of trouble with the Gimp Shop software. I uninstalled, then restalled the program, and things got a little easier! I did a "save as" and selected file type as "photoshop image" to my desktop (did not see PSD as an option). I then opended the "photoshop image" in Gimp and saved as a JPEG.

Mid Term 4 - My Avatar
Here's my Avatar!! Took a couple tries, but I finally got it! After rotating and saving the picture of my Avatar to my desk top, I then opened paint, insterted the text block and added the text. Special thanks to Lily and Andrew (my son-in-law) for their help! Chek it out: http://terriagraphics.blogspot.com/2007/07/heres-my-avatar.html
Mid Term 3 - Saving in Popular Web Formats

I followed tutorial, the first picture is a Jpeg, second a GIF, and the third is a PNG. There doesn't seem to be too much difference between the three pictures. The areas where I really see a difference are: in the clouds (they appear grainier in the GIFand PNG). And, the names in the GIF and PNG, the color does not seem as smooth or even as the Jpeg.
